Wallace "Wally" Mohs

Wallace "Wally" Henry Mohs, 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

He was born on November 23, 1936, in Fergus Falls, the son of Walter and Hazel (Schulz) Mohs. He graduated from Fergus Falls Senior High School in 1954. On August 16, 1958 he married Anita Koester in Fergus Falls, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and community.

Wally began his working years at Holten Hardware before earning his Chief Engineer's License. He went on to serve Lake Region Hospital with dedication for 44 years as the Department Manager of Maintenance, Buildings, and Grounds.

Wally was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also active in the Minnesota Health Care Engineers Association.

Wally's happiest moments were spent outdoors or alongside his family. He enjoyed trap shooting, golfing, bowling, archery, hunting, fishing, and attending any activity involving his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hazel; brothers Kenneth and Jimmy; sister, Betty Tollefson; brothers-in-law, Randy Tollefson, Donald Koester, Kenneth Koester, Calvin Hill and Basil Keller; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Koester and Marie Hill.

Wally is survived by his wife, Anita; children, Steven (Marlene) Mohs of Savage, MN, Thomas (Cathy) Mohs of Eagan, MN, and Kathryn (Clark) Wahlgren of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Jessica Wahlgren (fiancé Steve Marlow), Lauren Mohs, Courtney Mohs, and Allison (Andrew) Wendt; twin great-grandsons, Arlo and Adler Wendt; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Keller and Margaret Koester; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lakes Area Shooting Center, Fergus Falls.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery, Fergus Falls
