Vivian Rotering passed away on September 25, 2023, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 91. She spent the majority of her life on a farm near Amidon, North Dakota and in and around the town of New England, North Dakota. Vivian was an active member of a local homemaker’s club, a 4-H club leader, and taught religion classes. She was a wonderful cook and made several cherished cookbooks for her children through the years. Additional hobbies included quilting, oil painting, gardening, and sewing.
Other interests were theology and psychology. As such, later in life, she attended college courses on these subjects. Vivian also enjoyed her time working at a bank and many years later, volunteering at the Women’s Correctional Center in New England where she had a positive influence on many women. One of the women from that facility recently visited Vivian to thank her for her kindness and support.
Family was important to Vivian, which was evident through hosting numerous gatherings of friends and relatives on the farm. Vivian graduated from New England St. Mary’s High School in 1950. She married Arnold Rotering in 1953. Arnold passed away on April 13, 2023.
Vivian and Arnold had four children; Jeff (Claire) Rotering, Dave (Candy) Rotering, Karen (Kurt) Weidle, and Aaron (Devora) Rotering. They were the proud grandparents to twelve grandchildren as well as nine great grandchildren.
A service will be held in New England, North Dakota, for Arnold and Vivian, at a later date.
