Vernon Vallevand

Vernon Rueben Vallevand, 92, of Fergus Falls, died, Monday, July 7, 2025, at Lake Region Healthcare.

Vernon was born October 7, 1932, in Clitherall, MN, the son of Martin and Bertha (Sandahl) Vallevand. He spent his younger years attending Barnard School through the 8th grade. He then continued his education at Fergus Falls High School for the next two years. At the completion of his 10th grade year, he entered the United States Army and honorably served for two years. Upon discharge from the military, he returned to Fergus Falls High School and finished his education, graduating in 1952. After graduation, he began his career at the State Hospital in Fergus Falls, where he continued for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor in the early 1990's.

On June 12, 1956, he married Constance Neuman in Fergus Falls. The couple had two sons, Mark and Michael.

Vernon was a member of Nidaros Lutheran Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He also enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Jewett Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael; all of his siblings, Clifford Vallevand, Elsie Teetzel, Marvel Vallevand, Violet Reindel, Carl Vallevand, Bernard Vallevand, Mavis Wiseman, Vivian Bjerkum Vernon's twin sister, and Donald Vallevand.

Vernon is survived by his wife of 69 years, Constance Vallevand of Fergus Falls; son, Mark (Debbie) Vallevand of Elk River; granddaughter, Kimberly (Travis) Gause, great-granddaughters, Alexis and Hannah Gause and brother-in-law, James Neuman as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and will resume one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Nidaros Lutheran Church, Clitherall, MN

Interment: Nidaros Cemetery, Clitherall, MN
