Vernon Aldis Swift

Vernon Swift, 94, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls.

Vernon Aldis Swift was born October 8, 1931 to James D. and Eunice K. (Kube) Swift in Lawrence Township, MN. He attended District #45 country school and Morris Agriculture School, graduating in 1952. Vernon was a Sargent in the United States Army, serving at Fort Benning in Georgia, from 1952-1954.

On April 19, 1952 Vernon married Charlotte Kalvik at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. After Vernon was discharged from the United States Army in November of 1954, the couple moved to the family farm, where he spent many years farming.

He was a member of 4-H, the Wendell Elevator Director, and the President at the Village Co-op. Vernon enjoyed playing cards, pool, square dancing, and country dancing.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Charlotte; his parents, James and Eunice Swift; brother, Richard "Dick" Swift and sisters-in-law, Bernetta Swift and Joyce Swift.

Vernon is survived by his children, Mark (Michele) Swift and Dean Swift; grandchildren, Justin (Jody) Swift and Cody Swift; great-grandchildren, Logan and Levi; brother, Cliff Swift, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service is being planned for a later date.
