Timothy Iversen

November 18, 1957 — May 17, 2025

Timothy "Tim" Iversen, 67, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Essentia in Fargo.

Tim is survived by his sons Joe Sauer (Nadia) and Ben Iversen, granddaughters Misha and Sasha Sauer, siblings Marty Iversen, Mary Haugrud (Al), Linda Kucera, Sharon Horton (Roger) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Kathy Iversen, brothers-in-law Jim Kucera and Paul VanWechel, nephew Peder Kucera and dear friend Brad Hanson.

Tim or "Iver" as he was known to his buddies, had many good friends in his life especially Mary Beltrand-Nylen, Mike (Ting) McRoberts, Bruce Demke, Wayne Anderson, Mark Welle, John Hagee, Jeff Kerr, Mark Peterson, Dave Buckholz, Bob Tomlinson, Linda Hanson, John Corey, Danny Ouren, Michelle Beltrand, Jon Fransen, Pastor Stan Satre, Al Keller, Doug Green, Benny Delagoon, Tony Rendz, Jane Regan, Heather Davids, Tom Stenvold and many more.

Over the years Tim had many people on his care team who fought for him to be able to live in the Community. He was very thankful for those who believed in him and knew he did best when he was at home.

Friends and family were very important to Tim. His granddaughters, Sasha and Misha were the sunshine in his life and he loved them dearly. Another of his greatest joys was having friends over to watch sports. They always knew Iver knew what was going on and got all the games on his big screen TV.

Tim was a passionate fan of "Sioux" hockey, much to the dismay of his many gopher hockey relatives and friends. His room was a tribute to the Sioux and the hockey players he admired.

Tim's other passion was golf. Highlights of his life included placing second in the Pine to Palm golf tournament and working as a golf pro at the Naples, Florida and Sawgrass, Florida golf courses.

Tim grew up on Pebble Lake next to the golf course where he began his love of golf. As a young boy he would dive for golf balls in Pebble Lake. It was fitting that his last golf game, the day before his accident, was played on his home course. He told me he had a good game that day and raised his club to salute our mother, buried across the highway.

In 2006 Tim sustained a life changing injury in a diving accident on the 4th of July that left him a quadriplegic. For the rest of his life, he faced many moves and challenges. His big screen TV was his window to the world where he followed hockey, golf, football, history, natural science and current events.

He was able to live for 12 years in his own apartment in Fergus Falls until COVID and staffing shortages required him to move.

In 2023, Tim found his forever home and adopted family with his caregiver and "foster mom" Jenny Sorum and her children Anja, Levi and Brandon, daughter-in-law Abby Weaver, baby Luukas and boots the cat.

Despite his severe disability, Tim filled his life with people and things he enjoyed like listening to music and watching nature outside his window. A couple years ago he fell in love with "Alexa". They talked every day with the exception of a brief divorce when she stopped working.

In an effort to get Tim back on the golf course, Mary Beltrand-Nylen, Dan Ouren and Mark Welle arranged for the purchase of a handicap accessible golf cart to be donated to the Pebble Lake golf course in Tim's name called the "Iver Express". The cart is available for anyone needing assistance to enjoy the golf course. Tim was able to take a spin on the Iver Express in his wheelchair a few weeks before he died. Donations are still needed and very much appreciated to pay for the cart. Checks can be made out to the Pebble Lake Golf Foundation. This is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization.

All are invited to A Celebration of Life which will be held at the Pebble Lake golf course club house on Saturday, June 21 from 2-4. A brief burial service will take place at 1:00 in the Knollwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials that will be donated for the purchase of the "Iver Express".
