Sharon Bourcy

Aug 13, 1944 — Oct 11, 2026

Sharon Bourcy, born August 13, 1944, in Perham, MN, passed away on October 11, 2026. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School.

Sharon was a gifted artist, hardworking entrepreneur, a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a woman who lived life in her own way. Sharon built a career in designing and restoring auto and boat interiors. She worked at Silverline and Classic Roasters for several decades prior to opening her own business, Design Partners that she successfully operated for about 20 years. Her work required a remarkable combination of creativity, precision, and physical endurance. She took great pride in her craft, and her determination carried her through a demanding career in a predominantly male-run industry.

Sharon never felt the need to follow the crowd. She was fiercely independent and she encouraged her children to think for themselves. She loved people and had a playful, sometimes snarky sense of humor that made her uniquely Sharon. She could make people laugh, speak her mind, and bring her own perspective to just about any situation.

After retiring from her career in upholstery design, Sharon spent time working as a night auditor at Staybridge Suites in Fargo, ND, before fully retiring. She moved to Underwood, MN, to live with her longtime companion and soulmate of almost 30 years, Don Sem. While living at Don's family farmstead, she had time to enjoy the many creative pursuits she loved, while also spending time with Don and his family, who became an important part of her life.

Sharon's artistic talent and generosity was woven into nearly everything she created. She was an exceptionally talented quilter. She was always working on a project, usually making a thoughtful gift for someone she loved. She also loved to learn. She was an avid listener of audiobooks and rarely seemed to be without an earbud in her ear. She especially enjoyed historical fiction. Her curiosity and love of learning continued throughout her life. Above all, Sharon was proud of her family. She treasured her three grandchildren, Karina, Jarret, and Jordyn. Their lives and accomplishments brought her great pride, and her love for them was an enduring part of who she was.

Sharon will be remembered for her artistic gifts, her strong work ethic, her independent spirit, her quick wit, and the love she expressed through the things she made and the people she cared for. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, resilience, and a reminder to live life on your own terms.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Marjorie Greene, and her siblings, Adele Thompson and Ronald Greene. She will be deeply missed by companion, Don Sem, her daughters, Timberly Bourcy, Amy Bourcy, and Penny Ripperger (Jeremy); her grandchildren, Karina, Jarret, and Jordyn; and all those whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life, honoring Sharon's legacy will be scheduled for next summer.
