Ruth Westby

Ruth Westby, 90, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, September 23, 2024, at LB Broen Home in Fergus Fall.

Ruth was born September 20, 1934 to Oscar and Agnes (Roeder) Krueger in Sisseton, SD. She attended school in Hankinson, ND and graduated from Hankinson High School. She furthered her education at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND.

On September 2, 1956, she married Stanley Westby at the Congregational Church in Wahpeton, ND. She began her employment with Otter Tail Power in 1955 as a secretary and retired in 1991 as a cashier. Ruth and Stanley enjoyed their summers at Long Lake and in 1991 they purchased a year-round home on the lake. In 1998 they sold their lake home and moved to Fergus Falls.

Ruth was a member of Hope Lutheran Church where she participated in Bible studies and was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Stanley in 2017.

Survivors include two brothers-in-law, Jerome (Rita) Westby and Richard (Linda) Westby all of Grand Forks, ND, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel, with a visitation one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Clergy: Allen Westby, S.A.M.

Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, N.D.
