Russell E Erlandson

Russell Erlandson, 89, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, June 19, 2026 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

Russell Edwin Erlandson was born July 26, 1936, the second of four boys, to Edwin Erlandson and Ruth (Haarstad) Erlandson in Fergus Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Aastad Lutheran Church. He attended Morris West Central School of Agriculture and later served in the Army Ready Reserves.

Russ married Carol Dewey in 1961. He farmed and raised cattle for many years. Russ retired from farming in 1998.

In retirement, Russ enjoyed golf, dancing, pool, wood carving, working on old cars, taking care of the farmstead, summer vacations with family and dear friends, and spending warm winters at Adobe Wells in McAllen, TX. He was a lifelong member of Aastad Lutheran Church.

Russ is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Edwin; his wife's parents, Ira and Ursie; his brothers, Gary, Arlan, and Marcus; his sisters-in-law, Marlys Erlandson, Shirley Dewey, and Janice Walkup; and nephews, Ron Erlandson and Scott Dewey.

Russ is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol; children, Brenda (Dan) Lindhorst, Brett (Maria) Erlandson, Lon (Amy) Erlandson and Jill (Mitch) Humann; grandchildren, Jesse (Kelsey) Lindhorst, Abbie Lindhorst, Taylor Erlandson, Riley (Henri) Santelman, and Darby Humann; and great-grandchildren, Archer and Wren Lindhorst. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Barb Erlandson and brothers-in-law, Jim Dewey and Jack Walkup.

Russ was greatly loved and will be missed by his family.

Memorials preferred to Aastad Lutheran Church.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.
