Ronnie (Ron) Lee Spangler, 77, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service to his family, friends, and community.
Ron was born on June 24, 1949, in Freeport, Illinois, to Kenneth and Berniece (Bamberg) Spangler. He was raised in Minnesota and graduated from Underwood High School with the Class of 1967. He later attended Alexandria Technical College, where he studied Sales and Marketing.
On June 14, 1969, Ron married the love of his life, Teresa Teri) Tangen. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and commitment, sharing more than five decades of marriage. Together and as a family they enjoyed many outdoor activities, family trips, high school sporting events. As empty nesters they enjoyed dancing together, Mexico trips and South Texas.
Ron devoted 45 years of his professional life as an Insurance and Financial Representative, earning the trust and respect of countless clients through his integrity, compassion, and dedication. In addition to his insurance career, he was a licensed Real Estate Broker for over 30 years, helping many families achieve their dream of homeownership. As business owners, Ron and Teri also participated for several years in the Relay for Life event raising funds for the American Cancer Society.
Ron's greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, and cherished brother, uncle, and friend. He treasured the time spent with those he loved and created lasting memories that will continue to be shared for generations. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking numerous trips with friends and family.
Another passion of Ron's was his involvement in the Central Lakes Trail and the North Country Trail.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Berniece Spangler; his parents-in-law, Ellsworth (Ted) and Dollie Tangen; his sister, Debbie Albertson; and his brother, Robert Spangler.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Teresa (Teri) Spangler; his children, Ron (Lisa) Spangler and Tricia (Dan) Bergeson; his grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Kristina, and Jennifer; his siblings, Patricia (Larry) Johansen, Kay (Charles) Olsen, Sherry Spangler, Linda (Randy) Nordwall, and Tina (Curt) Olson; sister-in law, Marlys Spangler as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Ron will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, commitment to his family, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he met. His life touched many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2026 at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service. Though he is no longer with us in person, Ron's love, wisdom, and example will remain with his family and friends forever.
