Roberta Ouse

Roberta June Ouse, age 88, of St. Peter, MN, (formerly Rothsay, MN) passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Roberta was born June 2, 1938, in Osakis, MN to Robert and Rosina (Arlie) Erickson. She and her family moved to Rothsay, MN in 1949. She graduated from Rothsay High School in 1956.

On November 9, 1957, Roberta married Ralph Ouse in Rothsay and they began their life together on the farm. They welcomed three children to their family - Ramona, Renee and Roger. Together they were an active farm family with Roberta's job being all that a farmwife does, including operating the hay baler.

She was also an active community volunteer. Roberta and Ralph were active in the MN Prairie Chicken Society and Roberta was instrumental to Rothsay being named the Prairie Chicken Capital of MN. Roberta was one of the original founders of PARTNERS (People Around Rothsay That Need Extra Routine Services) and became involved with the Elderberry Foundation and assisted other communities in developing these services. Another major project was her involvement with the merger of the two Lutheran churches in Rothsay and the building of the church for New Life Lutheran Church.

Roberta loved spending time with and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This included attending sporting events and school programs as well as road trips to visit out-of-state family. Roberta was a passionate quilter. She loved learning new techniques, visiting many quilt shops and teaching others how to quilt, including some of her grandchildren. The family will cherish the many quilts she made for each of us.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Ralph; her children, Ramona (Lynn) Johnson of West Fargo, ND, Renee (Jim) Rubish of Madison Lake, MN, and Roger (Amanda) Ouse of Pataskala, OH; 15 grandchildren - Megan (Bryan), Mallory (Chris), Reid (Amanda), Hilary (Joey), Sadie (Mack), Nora (Colm), Ian, Selah, Livvy, Jeremiah, Christopher, Sam (Andrea), Kari (Asad), JP and Gracie; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rebecca Slusher and Roz Teberg; brother-in-law, Lorin Hansen and sister-in-law, Margie Halbakken.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law, Karen Ouse, sister, Ruth Hansen, brothers-in-law, Duane Slusher, Larry Teberg, Lloyd Ouse, Cliff Ouse; sister-in-law, Betty Froslie.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to New Life Lutheran Church, Rothsay, MN or PARTNERS, Rothsay, MN.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026 at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment: Hamar Cemetery, Rothsay, MN
