Richard "Rich" Hippen, 82, of Ashby, died Monday, October 6, 2025 at Ashby Assisted Living in Ashby.
Richard Dean Hippen was born July 8, 1943 to John and Rosella (Hoffman) Hippen in Ortonville, MN. He graduated from Wilmot High School in South Dakota and then attended South Dakota State University and earned a degree in printing.
On January 25, 1963, Rich married Angela "Angie" Jarman in Wilmot, SD.
After college, he was a newspaper printer in Wisconsin. Eventually moving to Morris and owned/operated Morris Commercial Printing for many years. In 1982, he and his wife Angie moved to Ashby and started a screen-printing company in Dalton, named Lake Country Graphics.
He was a member of the 9 F Sportsman's Club in Morris until he moved to Ashby. He joined the Coots Unlimited in Ashby and donated to and helped many wildlife organizations. His most important membership was season tickets to all Ashby Arrow Athletics.
Rich went on many different fishing and hunting trips from Canada to New Mexico. He loved to attend his kids' and grandkids' sporting events every change he could. He enjoyed carpentry work and smoking meat and different foods for everyone. In his last years of life, he thoroughly enjoyed gardening with his wife, Angie.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Rosella and John Hippen; his sister, Kaye Hippen, and his brother, Gordon Hippen.
Rich is survived by his wife, Angie Hippen; his two daughters, Beth (Bruce) Banks and Kim (Rick) Schroeder; his grandchildren, Ashley (Wyatt) Bruce, Cole Messerschmidt, Kerstyn Schroeder (Wyatt Johnson), and Austin Schroeder (Allyson Hohman); great-grandchildren, River, Daxton, Krew, and Lettie Bruce; nephews, Bill Hippen, DB Garber, and Mark Smith; nieces, Michelle, LeAnn, Jennifer, Chris, Sonia, and Paula.
Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Christina Lake Lutheran Church, Evansville, MN
