Peggy Virginia Walz

Peggy Virginia Walz, the heart of the family, 77, of Campbell MN, gained her angels wings on Thursday October 1, 2026 at Sanford Hospital surrounded by her family.

Peggy Walz was born on March 18th, 1949 in Wadena, MN to Edgar Norman and Helen Nelson. She grew up around the Wadena area, with fond memories of her grandparent's lake home. She then moved around with her family until moving to Fergus Falls, and making their home on Peck Street. With all of her good memories as a kid, and the friend she made. She completed her education in Fergus Falls.

On August 26, 1972 Peggy married Norman Walz, and together they built their life on the family farm. They had two beautiful daughters, Patricia and Tracy. Throughout the years, she was an amazing wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend. She was an amazing homemaker helping with what needed to be done with the farm work. The big gardens, and tons of canning that went with it. She also put up with the seasons of hunting, always preparing everyone's breakfast early in the mornings. Then planning coffee breaks, with treats, and always preparing lunch and supper, for whoever showed up always having plenty for everyone. Always cleaning up all the mud, and such with minor complaining. In later years she worked at the Pioneer Home as a housekeeper, making many friends, and always keeping spirits high. After leaving her job, she enjoyed many casino trips, bingo halls, being a member of the Lions Club with her husband, and caring for her grandchildren. She was a kind soul with family always coming first. She always had a sense of humor, and always was quick with a smart comment to finish the conversations, and keeping family and friends laughing. Although you left us you will always be in our minds, hearts, and spirits.

Peggy is survived by her children, Ron (Debb) Head of Rochester, Patricia Walz of Campbell, Tracy Walz of St. Cloud; six grandchildren, Teresa Mason of Lake Havasu, AR, Jayde Foss of Fergus Falls, Zachary Anderson of Campbell, Domenic Walz of Fargo, Graden (Rowdy) Butler of Moorhead, Xander Bontjes of Elbow Lake; three great-grandchildren, Izak, Alreyle , and Brooks; her brother, Phil (Denise) Nelson; her adopted daughter, Shana (Nathan) Gutzmer; her best friends of over 60 years, Florence Weinrich, Teresa Lureen, Mavis Sheriff, and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Norman & Helen Nelson; husband, Norman Walz; sister, Kathleen Erickson; brother, David Nelson, and special son-in-law, Jeremi Anderson.

She will be deeply missed by all, until we meet again!

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service. Lunch will follow the service at the Bigwood Event Center in Fergus Falls.
