Nathan Eide, 79, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Frazee Care Center in Frazee.
Nathan 'Nate' Lee Eide was born on August 11, 1946, to Howard and Lorraine (Svare) Eide in Fergus Falls. He grew up on the family farm in Carlisle, MN where he got into mischief and did everything he could to get out of chores. Nathan was baptized and confirmed at Hedemarken Lutheran Church of rural Carlisle. He attended country school and graduated from Roosevelt Park High School (Fergus Falls) in 1964. He continued his education at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton.
On April 11, 1969, he married Linda Lee in Fergus Falls and had two children, Corey and Ginger. Nathan worked road construction for a number of years before purchasing Eide's Champlin gas station in Fergus Falls. It offered full-service gas, bait, snacks, a shop for auto repairs, and a place for friends to meet. He later added used car sales, and a name change to Eide's Gas and Auto Sales. When the gas station closed, he continued to sell cars. His love of music led him to hiring bands and hosting Armory dances in the late 60's.
Nathan had a great sense of humor and kept it until the very end. He loved kids and never met one that he didn't think needed candy. Over the years he enjoyed fishing, trips to the casino, classic cars, cooking, music, and music trivia. Along with all the things that, as Nate would say, "I might be really good at it, I've just never tried"!!
When his dementia started to get the better of him, in March 2024 he moved into the Frazee Care Center where his granddaughter works.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Corey Eide; brother Robbie Eide; and brothers-in-law Bill Wilkinson and Robert Lee.
Nathan is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Ginger Fletcher of Evansville; grandchildren, Savannah (Dylan) Borah of Detroit Lakes, Saffron (Emma Harmsen) Fletcher and Camilla Fletcher both of Minneapolis, and Hewett (Maddie) Fletcher of Barrett; great-granddaughter, Olive Borah of Detroit Lakes; siblings, Tom (Trudy) Eide of Fargo and Leah (Scott Anderson) Wilkinson of Bloomington, IN; sisters-in-law, Alice Gross of Plano, TX and Barb Lee of Fargo; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews along with their families.
