Remembering the life . . .
Mellicent Yvette Griggs, 51, of Breckenridge, MN, died Monday, May 13, 2024 under the care of Sanford Hospice in Fargo.
Mellicent was born June 5, 1972 to Merrill and Marlys (Hooge) Griggs in Breckenridge, Minnesota.
As a girl she enjoyed 4H, and training her dogs for the many shows they were in. She often would talk about the great times she had growing up in Breckenridge, hanging out with the many friends she had and working at Hardees as a teenager. She attended school in Breckenridge, graduating in 1990. Mell graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Alexandria Technical College in 2010.
Mell had three wonderful girls with James Ham of Wahpeton, ND. Allison Ham was born August 29, 1995, Amber Ham was born August 14, 1997, and Abigail Ham born August 18, 1998. Fifteen years later Aubree Griggs was born June 6, 2013. Mell loved doing anything and everything as long as she was doing it with her family. Mell did many things in life but found her true calling of caring for people when she started to work as a CNA. She enjoyed the last 14 years working as a nurse. She touched the lives of many and if you knew her you always had someone who cared about you. Mell always found the light in a dark situation.
Mellicent was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill and Marlys (Hooge) Griggs; uncle, Marvin Hooge, and infant brother, Marcus.
Survivors include her children, Allison Kjeseth of Breckenridge, Amber Ham of Wahpeton, Abigail Ham and fiancé, Nevin Hoagland of Fairmount, ND, Aubree Griggs of Breckenridge, and Amanda Thoemke of Fergus Falls; brother, Marlon (Kris) Griggs of Roseville; sister, Malane (Dean) Brandenburger of Rosholt, SD; four grandchildren, Katie Thoemke, Avery Kjeseth, Colton Kjeseth, and Amy Kenoyer; two nephews, one niece, and countless friends.
