Melissa Lynn Anderson, 40, of Dickinson, ND, formerly Fergus Falls, MN died Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at St. Alexis Hospital in Bismarck, ND.
Melissa was born on June 3, 1985 in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Kevin Wheeler and Kathy Jo Dahlstrom. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls. On October 13, 2004, Melissa became a mom, to her first-born daughter, Carly Dewey.
On January 26, 2007, she married Dennis Anderson in Sisseton, SD. To this union, 2 daughters were born, Ava who was born April 1, 2008 and Ashton, who was born on May 5, 2009. The family of 5 lived in Fergus Falls until 2014, when they moved to rural Dunn Center, ND.
Through the years Melissa was a jeweler and helped Dennis with his business, but most importantly she was a mother to her 3 daughters, who she referred to as her greatest life achievements.
She was a life-time member of the Fergus Falls V. F. W. Post 612 Auxiliary. Melissa had a creative side to her and she enjoyed drawing, coloring, arts and crafts and photography. Melissa could also be found enjoying the outdoors by walking, hiking and fishing. She loved animals and loved to be with her horses, dogs and cats. Some of her other favorite things to do were listen to music as well as cook and bake.
Preceding her in death was her sister, McKenzie Wheeler; grandparents, Diane and Merle Wheeler; grandpa, John Dahlstrom Sr. and Dennis' brother, Daniel Anderson.
Survivors include her 3 beautiful daughters, Carly Dewey of Bismarck, ND, Ava and Ashton Anderson both of Dunn Center, ND as well as their father, Dennis Anderson of Dunn Center, ND; parents, Kathy Dahlstrom (Duane Birch) of Elizabeth, MN and Kevin (Kayla) Wheeler of somewhere in the woods and lakes of MN; siblings, Mitchell (Sarah) Wheeler of Battle Lake, Brandon (Kelsey) Wheeler of Fergus Falls, Taylor Wheeler of Fergus Falls, Jennifer (Brian) Olson of Rothsay and Shane (Ashley) Lehn also of Rothsay; great-grandmother, Karen Dahlstrom of Fergus Falls; nieces and nephews, Lucas and Logan Winkler, Colton and Emma Wheeler and Harper Barry. Also surviving are Dennis' mother, Karin, who Melissa had a special relationship with as well as his sister, Debra (Nick) Winkler of Fergus Falls. Melissa also leaves behind a pile of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls. A public visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Maplewood Lutheran Cemetery, rural Erhard, MN. A time for food and to gather with friends and family will follow the service at the V. F. W, 420 East Washington Avenue, Fergus Falls.
