Matthew Larum, 40, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, December 13, 2025 unexpectedly at his residence due to an Aortic Dissection, a rare and often undetected heart condition.
Matthew John Karl Larum was born December 24, 1984, to Terry and Pat Larum. He was the oldest of two children. He attended school in Fergus Falls, graduating in 2003. Following High School, he attended Alexandria Technical College with a degree in Masonry. He was employed by Jennie-O at the West Central Turkey Plant in Pelican Rapids, MN, for the last 22 years.
He enjoyed gardening, RC cars, fishing, camping, Friday night races, and working on his camper. He loved expressing himself by wearing fedora hats, tie-dyed T-shirts, and lighter leashes he had created himself. Something his loved ones will cherish forever.
Matt had an exceptionally large community of friends that he regularly spent time with. They attended concerts and festivals as often as they could, welcoming the adventure. He earned nicknames like Matthew-Mallard, Stud Jr., Larry, Mr. M, and Lar-Bear from his closest friends and family. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all of them, including playing with his younger cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lauretta and Karl Odens, John and Jane Larum; aunt, Diane Odens; uncles, Steven Odens and Corey Hoefs; cousin, Lori Odens.
Surviving Matthew are his parents, Terry and Pat Larum and sister, Krista Larum (Ben Formo), as well as many aunts and uncles. Matt also leaves behind a very close-knit group of friends who were also his family, notably: Steve Smith, Richard Milbeck, Jamie Budke and Melissa Loomer.
