Marvin Westvig, a spirited and friendly soul, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the age of 89 in Fergus Falls, MN. Born on December 9, 1936, in Atkin, MN, Marvin's early years were marked by the same warmth and enthusiasm that would later define his life.
Marvin was a man of many passions, but perhaps none were as defining as his love for his community and his business. For 25 years, he was the proud owner of a local Dairy Queen, where he served not just treats but also smiles and friendly conversations. His establishment was more than a place to enjoy a Blizzard on a hot summer day; it was a gathering spot where Marvin made everyone feel like family. During the winter months, when the Dairy Queen was closed, he and his wife, Virginia, were snow birds and went to Arizona. Where he and his brother Bob and Linda also spent the winter. In retirement he loved to join his Morning Coffee Crew for coffee and conversation.
Marvin was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, often seen riding through the Minnesota countryside, his face alight with the joy of the open road. His love for motorcycles was rivaled only by his affection for John Deere tractors. Marvin could often be found tinkering with his beloved machines, a testament to his hands-on approach to his hobbies and his life.
As we say goodbye to Marvin, we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. His journey through life was a testament to the power of a positive spirit and the impact one person can have on the world around them. Marvin Westvig's memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as his presence once did. Rest in peace, dear friend.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Shearon) Westvig; daughter, Trina (Westvig) Moore; parents, Sigvald and Lois Westvig; sisters, Alice (Westvig) Anderson and sister, Karen (Westvig) Blume; brothers, Robert Westvig; and Warren Westvig; and his faithful companion, Lucy.
