Marlys Tollerson

Marlys Tollerson, 85, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, November 17, 2023.

Marlys was born on June 2, 1938 in Fergus Falls to her parents Ernest Bartels Jr. and Madalyn Bach Bartels. She attended country school and graduated from Fergus Falls high school in 1956. After high school Marlys attended St Lukes hospital school of nursing graduating in 1959 and earned her RN degree. On February 3, 1962 Marlys married Lyle “Peter” Tollerson in Fergus Falls.

She worked at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls for 45 years, retiring as the Nursing Manager of the medical floor.

In her free time Marlys was involved in the VFW auxiliary as well as being a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She loved to knit, sew, read and travel, as well as attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting, especially hockey, and musical events.

Marlys is preceded in death by both her parents, her sister-in-law Katie Stinar, brother-in-law Kenneth Tollerson Jr, and her mother and father-in-law Kenneth and Lorena Tollerson Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle “Peter” Tollerson; daughters, Sue (Dean) Boese, Margaret (Craig) Lee, and Meme (Todd) Hershner; grandchildren, Melissa (JJ) Krupich, Matt (Annie) Boese, Jason (Kara) Lee, Becca Lee, Ari (Tim) O’Donnell, Maddy (Josh) Johnson and Jordie (Logan) Salwei; great-grandchildren, Lillian (Toby) Krupich, Brody Krupich, Freddie Boese, Ella Lee, Andrew Lee, Alina O’Donnell and Ella O’Donnell; great-great grandchild, Knoxley Elliott; brothers, Bill (Laurel) Bartels, Richard (Wendy) Bartels Sr; brothers-in-law, Lowell (Nancy) Tollerson and Steven Tollerson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls
Service: 2 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2023 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Salim Kaderbhai
Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery in Fergus Falls
