Marion Jorgenson

November 10, 1933 — January 3, 2024

Marion Jorgenson, 90, of rural Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

Marion Joan Schleske was born November 10, 1933, the daughter of Otto and Lucy (Bremer) Schleske. She grew up on a farm in Friberg Township and graduated from Fergus Falls High School.

On March 20, 1954, Marion married Wallace Jorgenson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They moved to the family farm in rural Fergus Falls, and together they raised five children: Bruce, Brenda, Brian, Beth, and Brad. Together they farmed their land and had dairy cattle. In 1980 they sold the cows, but continued farming until retirement in 2003.

Marion was formerly a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and presently a member of Stavanger Church. She was a member of Homemakers. Some of her hobbies were her flower and vegetable gardens, baking, and watching the birds at the feeders in her yard. She took great pride in her gardens and worked hard to maintain them. Her family and friends benefited from her skills in the kitchen. Among the favorite treats were her donuts, sugar cookies, and the best potato salad around. Everyone looked for that yellow Tupperware bowl at potlucks and family gatherings because they knew that was "Marion's potato salad". In the fall they enjoyed driving in the hills near their house looking at the beautiful fall colors. For many years they would make an annual trip to the North Shore to take in the scenery as well. Marion enjoyed any time spent with her family, but especially Sunday dinners with her kids. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and lived for any time she got to spend with them. She also enjoyed time spent visiting with her sister-in-law, Marilyn Johnson, and greatly appreciated her driving to the farm to see her.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Wallace; her parents, Otto and Lucy Schleske; her son, Bruce Jorgenson, and father and mother-in-law, Oscar and Rose Jorgenson.

Marion is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Dale) Thompson of Underwood and Beth (Jonathan Kumm) Hockert of Fergus Falls; two sons, Brian (Nici Johnson) Jorgenson of Fergus Falls and Bradley (Karma) Jorgenson of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Mathew (Jill) Rugg, Tyler (Michelle Anderson) Thompson, Nichole (Jacob Haugen) Boehland, Jason (Cassie) Jorgenson, Zachary (Kayla) Jorgenson, Madison (Evan Bohn) Jorgenson, and Alana Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her in-laws, Stanley Jorgenson and Marilyn Johnson.
