Margaret Marie Barringer

Mar 2, 1932 — Jun 8, 2026

Margaret Marie Barringer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 8th, at the age of 94. Margaret was born on March 2nd, 1932 to Charles and Augusta Poppel, on their farm in Nordick Township. She started school when she was six years old, at a country school two miles from their farm, which she walked to and from many times. Margaret graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1950. Lyle was the only one to attend her graduation and after graduation he asked her to marry him.

On November 23rd, 1950, during a snowstorm, Margaret married the love of her life, Lyle Edward Barringer. The two of them celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on November 23rd, 2025. Margaret and Lyle lived on a farm in Meadows Township until 1990. Together they built a beautiful life as proud parents to five children: Wylene, Leon, Randy, Beth, and Peggy.

Margaret and Lyle farmed 480 acres of land and had cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep. Margaret loved gardening, both vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and craft work as well.

In 1990, Margaret and Lyle built a lake home on South Lida. They enjoyed many summers there. For many winters, Lyle and Margaret went to Mesa, AZ where they had a place in the Towerpoint Resort. While at Towerpoint Resort, Margaret enjoyed the quilt guild at the church.

In 2021, as Lyle's and Margaret's health declined and they couldn't take care of the lake home anymore, they moved to Mill Street Assisted Living in Fergus Falls. On January 15th, Lyle and Margaret were moved to Pioneer Care Nursing Home. Lyle passed away on January 24th and Margaret missed the love of her life and passed away 135 days after him.

Margaret is survived by her children: Wylene (David) Danielson, Jocelyn (wife of Leon) Barringer, Randy (Denise) Barringer, Beth Dupree, Peggy (Scott) Peterson, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, sister Della Albert.

She is preceded in death by her husband-Lyle, parents-Charles and Augusta Poppel, son-Leon Barringer, brother-Lawrence Poppel, and sister-Joyce Michael.
