Madeline "Madge" Mae Langlie, 93, went to be with her heavenly Father after passing peacefully on April 13th, 2025 in Tulare, California.
Madge, the 2nd of 14 siblings, was born on November 23rd, 1931 to Frank and Bernadine (Larson) Justin in Saint Cloud, Minnesota where she also grew up and graduated from Saint Cloud Tech. While attending, she ran into and got knocked down by a man at the local roller rink one night. After a quick-witted "Well, if you wanted to skate with me, you could have just asked!" that would come to define her humor, James Carol Langlie asked her to skate on the next couple's skate. They married on March 4th, 1951, and continued skating through life faithfully together until James' passing on November 24th, 1996.
Madge was a lover of motorcycle riding, going to athletic events and "snoopervising" the students, Belgian waffles with strawberries and extra whipped cream, counted cross stitching, playing cards, painting ceramics, and making caramel rolls and pies for family, friends, and church.
Jim and Madge would take missionary work as a core tenet of their lives. Madge would travel with and support Larry and Gloria Lundstrom on their domestic missions work, become part of the Gideons Auxiliary, go to Mexico to dedicate a church as part of the Latin American Lutheran Mission, travel the width and breadth of the United States on her VW trike, "Madge's Blue Angel," telling motorcyclists about Jesus and a trip to Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua to deliver motorcycles to traveling pastors as part of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA). As a part of CMA, she became the first female ever to flag at an American Motorcyclists Association race.
Madge was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bernadine Justin; her husband, James Langlie; siblings, James Justin, Rose Ann Olson, Rita Cicharz, Daniel Justin, Francis Justin, and Leroy Justin. She is survived by her children, James (Lilane) Langlie of Orlando, Florida, Terry (Mary Beth) Langlie of Tulare, California, Sonia (Dan) Malingen of Tulare, California and Joshua (Melinda) Langlie of Carver, Minnesota; grandchildren, Ryan (Cara) Langlie of Melbourne, Florida, Jordan (Samantha) Langlie of Minneapolis, Minnesota, McKenzie Langlie of Visalia, California, Chandler (Jacob) Pitts of Tulare, California and Alisha (Jasmin) Janusiewicz of Tulare, California; great-grandchildren, Michael (Halia) Langlie of Atlanta, Georgia, Tyler Langlie of Atlanta, Georgia, Sarah Langlie of Melbourne, Florida, Kobi Pitts, Quinn Pitts and Olin Langlie; her siblings, Philip Justin of Lincoln, Rhode Island, David Justin of Princeton, Minnesota, Nancy Monnier of Sartell, Minnesota, Bernadine "Bunny" (Ken) Meier of Bloomington, Minnesota, Charles (Theresa) Justin of Lincoln, Nebraska, Gary (Mary) Justin of Saint Cloud, Minnesota, Denise Justin of Sartell, Minnesota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
