Loren Arndt

July 31, 1931 — September 23, 2025

Loren Arndt, 94, of Fergus Falls, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at LB Broen Home in Fergus Falls.

Loren Theodore Arndt was born July 31, 1931 in Madelia, Minnesota to parents Theodore and Matie (Blum) Arndt. He grew up on the family farm in Lewisville, Minnesota with his brothers, Earl and Vern and sisters, Delona and Linda. He was a full-blooded German.

His church, Fieldon Lutheran was across the road from the family farm. He was proud to be the last confirmation class to be confirmed in German. Loren graduated from Madelia High School in 1950. He drove a school bus his senior year.

Loren entered into the Army in February 1952. He married his high school sweetheart, Marion Anderson, on July 31, 1952 while on leave. Soon after, Loren was deployed to Korea. He served on a construction crew to mainly rebuild bombed out roads. He drove a bull dozer and also did mechanic education in Eta Jima, Japan. Loren was honorably discharged as a corporal. Loren returned home and bought his own farm by Hanska, Minnesota. He drove red tractors proudly! He retired after over 35 years of farming.

The couple had two daughters, Kathryn and LeAnn. They were proud to send their girls to college to become teachers. Loren and Marion moved to Fergus Falls to be closer to their daughters and their families. After moving to Fergus Falls, Loren drove tractors and helped area farmers. Driving green tractors was a major adjustment for Loren. He also mowed lawn at Oak Grove Cemetery.

He and his family belonged to Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia, where he was active on the council and a member of the choir for many years. Marion played the organ. Loren taught his girls about serving God and using their talents to praise God.

Loren was excited to go on the Fargo Moorhead Veteran's Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was able to see the Korean War Veteran's Memorial. Upon returning to Fargo, he received a hero's welcome home with cheers, music, flags, and family. He was finally recognized for his faithful service to his country. He has his own flag in the Fergus Falls Veteran's Walk of Flags.

He was a farmer at Heart and loved driving around evaluating the crop situations and visiting with his brother, Vern, who ran the family farm. He visited the Dalton Thresherman's weekend and Big Iron Equipment show in Fargo. Machinery shows on T.V. were a favorite. Loren also loved family time, especially when ice cream was involved!

Preceding him in death were his wife of 66 years, Marion Arndt; daughter, LeAnn; brother, Earl (Marlene) Arndt; nephew, Daniel Reckard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene Bonkoski, Darrell Pace, Weldon Jacobson, and Mary Arndt.

Loren is survived by his daughter, Kathryn (Everett) Jacobson of Fergus Falls; grandson, Ryan Jacobson of Fergus Falls; granddaughter, Erin Conduah of Moorhead; great-grandson, Trey Jacobson of Moorhead; son-in-law, Ron Fogelson of Farwell; granddaughter, Jackie (Jessie) Tommerdahl of Hudson, WI and son, Sonny Loren; granddaughter, Megan (Shane) Gibbons and their daughters, Ronnie Sue and Brighton; siblings, Vern Arndt of Lewisville, Delona Bonkoski of Faribault, and Linda (Eldon) Reckhard of Prior Lake; sisters-in-law, Elsie Pace of Madelia and Ellen Jacobson of Savage, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
