Loran L. Johnson, 95, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, August 30, 2026 at LB Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Loran Leo Johnson was born June 7, 1931 to George L. and Clara I. (Nehring) Johnson in Fergus Falls. He attended rural school District #252 in Orwell Township and Washington High School in Fergus Falls, graduating in 1949. He also attended North Dakota State School of Science for electrical trades and graduated in 1952.
Serving in the United States Army from 1952-1954, Loran spent 14 months in Korea during the Korean War. He earned the UN Service Medal, National Defense Medal, and the Korean Service Ribbon.
He was employed at Johnson Drake and Pipe as a laborer for two years and then, Otter Tail Power Company as a meter tech foreman for 39 years, retiring in 1993.
On September 24, 1954 Loran married Geraldine Stock at Federated Church in Fergus Falls.
Loran was a member of Federated Church in Fergus Falls, the VFW and the Eagles. He was also a member of the Otter Tail County Historical Museum, Fergus Falls Senior Citizens, Lakeland Hospice, Spartan Athletic Boosters, and Pebble Lake Golf Club.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, woodworking, and carving. Loran was an avid sports fan.
Family was paramount. He created opportunities for his kids and grandkids. He was very generous with his time and resources.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Geraldine Johnson; his parents, George and Clara Johnson, and siblings, Harlin (DeLores) Johnson and Elton (Florence) Johnson.
Loran is survived by his children, Lori (Wesley) Beske of Fergus Falls, Lindsay (Debra) Johnson of Dubuque, IA, Lisa (Kent) Vogel of Fergus Falls, and Kurt (Sonja) Johnson of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Matthew (Teresa) Beske, Christa (Ryan) Smith, Nicholas Johnson, Marissa Vogel, Keianna (Dan) Vogel, Hayden (Haley)Vogel, and Joseph (Connie) Cooper; great-grandchildren, Harvey, Chloe, Jack, Connor, and Harrison, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.
A special thank you to Lake Region Healthcare, LB Broen Home, Aegis Therapies, and Moments Hospice for the care given to Loran.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Federated Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Military Participation: Fergus Falls VFW Post 612 and Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30
