LeRoy Thompson

LeRoy Orlin Thompson was born December 3, 1940, in Moorhead, MN to Orlin and Lillian (Skramsted) Thompson. He grew up in Detroit Lakes, MN. After high school he joined the National Guard, then went into the Army. He was sent over to Germany as a tank driver. He returned to the states in the fall of 1964. On June 4, 1965 LeRoy married Carol Krause. They had two children, a daughter and a son.

He worked road construction but mostly drove truck. In 1987 they moved to Warroad, MN. He loved hunting and fishing. LeRoy loved fishing Lake of the Woods. In June of 1996 they moved to Nebraska, then to Arkansas, then Wisconsin, and at the end of 2004 they moved to Fergus Falls, MN.

He was a member of AA for 48 years, where he helped himself and many others. He passed away September 18, 2026 at Lake Region Healthcare, at the age of 85.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Carol of 61 years; a daughter, Diane Thompson of Winona, MN; a son, Michael (Lenora) Thompson; five grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Nicole, Corey, and Alyssa; five great-grandchildren, Joe, Natalea, DeLonna, Aamir, and Chloe, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a gathering of friends and family in the spring of 2027 to celebrate his life.
