Kathryn Haugrud

Kathryn "Katie" Erager Haugrud was born in Faribault, Minnesota on March 18, 1932 and gained her angel wings March 1, 2026. Her parents were Agnes (Leckness) and William Erager. Katie attended country school, Kenyon High, and graduated from Faribault High School in 1950. She entered St. Lucas Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1953.

On June 5, 1954 she married J. DuVane Haugrud. They lived in Fergus Falls until purchasing their farm in Underwood in 1973.

Katie was employed as an RN at the former State Hospital, Fergus Falls Medical Center and 34 years at Lake Region Hospital in various positions.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Mark) Flairty of Waukesha, WI; son-in-law, Charles Peterson; grandchildren, Justin (Emily Johnson) Peterson, Lacey (Nick) Ranstad, Christopher (Amanda) Flairty, J.J. (Jasmine) Flairty, Mike (Tracey) Flairty, and Gina Flairty; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brynna, and Jax Peterson, Scarlett Ranstad, Madison and Hayleigh Flairty, Allie, Kailyn, Taylor, and Haylee Flairty, Alannah and Teaghan Hilgarst, and Julia Flairty; great-great-grandchildren, Raiden, Payson, and Amara; sisters-in-law, Lilly Jane Erager and Marian Haugrud. Katie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, DuVane; daughter, Judy Peterson; infant children, Barbara Jo and Scott Allen; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Marie Haugrud; brothers, William and Ellsworth Erager; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Arvid (Arlene), Harold, and Alfred Jr. (Deloris) Haugrud; sister, Rose Marie and her husband, Willard Korsmo.

A memorial service is being planned for the summer of 2026.
