Karen Palubicki

July 1, 1945 — September 20, 2021

Remembering Karen Adele (Stender) Palubicki, born July 1, 1945, who left this earth Monday morning, September 20, 2021, under the bright orange glow of the Harvest Moon. She made it to her victory with Jesus and reunions in Heaven.

Karen was married for nearly 50 years to Cyril R. Palubicki (married 4/8/1972), who has lovingly kept by her side through it all and currently resides at Perham Living with the care of a very dedicated staff. Karen and Cyril had many joint ventures living in the Dent, MN area: farming, gardening, listening to vinyl records, bird-watching, and spending time with their family and friends. She had excellent business management and organizational skills managing the household, along with their business, North Country Wood Craft. She also assisted her brother and nephews with managing the W.L. Neu property by Rose Lake in Vergas, MN.

Karen had extensive interests and talents which included writing, arts & crafts, woodcrafts, creating amazing counted cross-stitch work, and scrapbooking. She had an affinity for history, Native American culture, and Southwest décor. She was a master gardener, a canner extraordinaire, an excellent cook and an avid baker. Karen always had a way of making things sweet and more beautiful; she loved music, a good joke, to play games, and to party, laugh and dance. She had so much fun taking road trips with friends and family and always had a camera ready to capture special moments.

Her initial entry into Perham Living in January 2020 was due to an early onset of Frontotemporal Degeneration (Primary Progressive Aphasia), the effects of which were sped up by COVID-19. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin Stender, Idella (Harold) Neu; mother-in-law, Mary (Rosenthal) Palubicki; her brother, Wayne L. Neu, and brother-in-law, Ervin Emery.

She is leaving behind her loving husband, Cyril R. Palubicki, Perham, MN; her brother, David H. Neu, Fergus Falls, MN; her sister, Linda F. Emery, Pelican Rapids, MN; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Neu, Sidney, MT; her best friend, Kathy (Jim) Helsene, Richville, MN; children, John T. Schepper, Moorhead, MN, Sheri (David) Barwig, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Valerie (Shawn) Omdahl, Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Nicole F. LaPoint, Maple Grove, MN, Nathan J. Schepper, Omaha, NE, and Rachel “Birdie” A. Schepper, Omaha, NE; bonus family of five step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren, and many, many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.

There will be a Memorial Gathering at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Loon Lake in Vergas, MN.
