Jerry Orwin Wigdahl, known to most as "Wiggy," was born on December 10, 1955, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to Orwin and Agnes (Carlsrud) Wigdahl. He passed away at his home on July 26, 2026. He was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay.
Jerry attended the Wigdahl Country School for five years before going to Rothsay Public School, where he graduated in 1973. During his school years, he participated in cross-country, track, and basketball.
On June 12, 1976, he married Lisa Halbakken. Together they raised four children and later divorced. In recent years, Jerry spent time with his special friend, Ruth Anderson.
Jerry worked in agronomy sales for many years and retired this past year. He took great pride in his work and was deeply committed to serving his customers, always willing to deliver what they needed at any hour of the day. Outside of work, Jerry devoted countless hours to the family farm, mowing, caring for the cows, and tackling projects that kept the farm looking its best for everyone who passed by.
Family was at the center of Jerry's life. He spent many evenings attending his children's sporting events and later found great joy in cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines. During football season, anyone looking for Jerry on a Saturday could usually find him watching NDSU Bison football. Some of his happiest moments were when the farm was full of family, with kids riding golf carts and four-wheelers and dogs running through the yard.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; his son-in-law, Travis Pope; and his grandson, Thomas Rowlette, all of whom he loved dearly and missed deeply.
He is survived by his special friend, Ruth Anderson of Rothsay, MN; his children, Sara (Jason Moe) Pope of West Fargo, ND, Stacy (Shawn Christ) Wigdahl of Rothsay, MN, Shana (Jaime) Rowlette of Nisswa, MN, and Gabriel (Leah Herdegen) Wigdahl of Fargo, ND; and his grandchildren, Cali (Alex Dalbec) Keller, Mason Keller, Bode Keller, Ashtyn Pope, Lydia Moe, Anika Moe, Summer Wigdahl, Anna Rowlette, Emily Rowlette, and Ryan Rowlette.
He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Dale) Rogholt of Rice, MN; his brother, Jerome (Jean) Wigdahl of Glenwood, MN; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many friends.
