Jerry Johnson, 80, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, September 27th at his home surrounded by his family under the care of Moments Hospice.

Jerry Alan Johnson was born October 10th, 1945 to Harlin and Delores (Glorvigen) Johnson in Fergus Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Jerry grew up on a farm in Orwell Township. He attended District 1491 and Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1963. In September of 1963 he began his service with the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1967. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

On May 24th, 1969 Jerry married Pamela Gregory. Together they had 2 sons, Travis and Terence. Jerry also adopted Pam's oldest son, Todd, and raised him as his own. 

On June 20th, 1981 Jerry was united in marriage to Sharon Amundson. They continued to make their home in Fergus Falls. Jerry worked for the local phone company for almost 30 years before retiring in 1998. After retirement, Jerry and Sharon spent the next 25 winters by the water of South Padre Island, TX. 

Jerry stayed active with American Legion Post #30 as a commander and a member of the color guard. He was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In his spare time, he loved flying his RC model airplanes along with his friends in the RC Flying Club. He also loved fishing, hunting, and helping Sharon with their beautiful gardens.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Todd Gregory Johnson, Travis (Lynn) Johnson and their daughter, Abigail, and Terence (Anna) Johnson and their daughter, Taylee and step-son Damien Cobb all of Fergus Falls; siblings, Nancy (Steve) Loeffler and Pete (Jan) Johnson all of Fergus Falls; Sharon's siblings, Tommy (Jane) Amundson and Susie (Marty Zeller) Amundson; sister-in-law Laura Amundson; numerous nieces and nephews; and Pamela Johnson.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Sharon; parents, Harlin and Delores Johnson; granddaughter, Emily Lynn Johnson; brother-in-law, John Amundson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 544 Education Foundation, and Moments Hospice, Alexandria MN.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 16th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Clergy: Pastor Loren Mellum

Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Fergus Falls, MN

Military Participation: Fergus Falls VFW Post 612 and Fergus Falls American Legion Post 612
