Jerome Gilbertson

Jerome "Jerry" Gilbertson, 80, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

Jerome Arden Gilbertson was born June 2, 1945 to Joseph and Nora (Oak) Gilbertson in Fergus Falls. Jerry was baptized and confirmed at First United Church of Christ. He attended school in Fergus Falls, graduating in 1964. Upon graduation, Jerry entered the United States Army and served for three years. He served during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Berlin. He received the Army Occupation Medal while in Berlin and the National Defense Service Medal. Jerry was an Expert M-60 DG and Expert Rifle operator.

On September 27, 1969, Jerry and Janice Williams were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. After marriage the couple settled in Minneapolis, where Jerry was employed with Ace Steel Products. Their son was born in 1975. In 1977 the couple returned to Fergus Falls to raise their son and to be closer to family.

For the past 11 years, Jerry and his son, Dion took year trips to Iowa and Jamestown, ND to attend car races. They enjoyed camping while in Iowa. They both loved these father/son trips and looked forward to them every year. Jerry enjoyed cars; repairing them and racing them. He raced himself and he worked at the Wee Town Race Track.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Nora Gilbertson; parents-in-law, Darwin and Hilda Williams; brother-in-law, Duane Williams; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Larry) Sander and Delaine (Jerry) Gullickson, and brother-in-law, Gene Tollefson.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Janice Gilbertson of Fergus Falls; his son, Dion of Fergus Falls; his brother, James Gilbertson of Bloomington and his daughter, Jessica; sister-in-law, Ardis Tollefson of Detroit Lakes, and three nieces and two nephews.
