Irene Peck

Irene A. (Swanson) Peck was born October 30, 1922, the daughter of Swen W. and Minnie (Olson) Swanson in Boxholm, Iowa. The family lived on farms in Boone and Webster County, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge (Iowa) High School and attended Fort Dodge Junior College for one year. In May 1944, she graduated from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Des Moines, Iowa as an RN.

On February 24, 1946 she married A. Lloyd Peck at Bethany Lutheran Church, Des Moines, Iowa. They were the parents of one daughter, Vicki. The family lived in Rockwell City, Boone, Humboldt, Audubon, and Exira, Iowa.

Irene worked as a Registered Nurse in Geriatric Nursing serving as Director of Nurses, and later as Nursing Home Administrator. In April 1987, Lloyd and Irene retired to a home on Wall Lake near Fergus Falls, MN. During their life together they were active in the local Lutheran Church and when moving to Fergus Falls became members of Calvary Free Lutheran Church. Of special interest to Irene was a weekly Bible Study and Christian fellowship.

In May 2003, she moved to an apartment in Fergus Falls. Later she moved to LB Homes Sheridan House and was living at Broen Home when she went home to be with her Lord, March 3, 2024.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki and son-in-law, Ray Schrock; grandsons, Scott (Deborah) Schrock, Douglas (Heidi) Schrock, and Jeffrey (Krista) Schrock; great-grandchildren, Allison and Ryan Schrock, Abigail and Sophia Schrock, and Mason and Myles Wagner; brother, Wayne (Phyllis) Swanson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, A. Lloyd Peck; parents, Swen and Minnie Swanson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola (Don) Conrad, Alma (Marvin) Dencklau, Ruth (Charles) Vieth, and Marlene (Bill) Owens; brother, Earle (Patricia) Swanson, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Light and Life Auditorium at LB Broen Home in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm, Iowa
