Irene McCormick

Irene McCormick, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 98, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Irene was born May 23, 1927 in Columbia, South Dakota. Irene met Lyle McCormick at a dance at the VFW in Aberdeen, South Dakota. They were married June 10, 1952.

Lyle's career took them from Aberdeen to Dodge Center and finally to Montevideo where they decided to remain and raise their boys. Retirement brought them to their little piece of heaven on West Battle Lake in 1983, where they thoroughly enjoyed retirement living.

Irene was a terrific cook and baker. For many years she made fresh bread on Saturdays and rolls for Sunday dinner. She enjoyed knitting and created many beautiful items. She was talented in ceramics. She was an avid bowler and loved joining Lyle and their group of friends snowmobiling. She loved her dogs, having numerous Boston Terriers and Poodles during her lifetime.

Irene was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Michael and his wife Dorothy; and David and his wife Cathy; her four granddaughters; Melissa and her husband Jeff and their children, Danika, Kellen, and Nicholas; Kara and her children, Theodore, Elliot, and Beatrice; Sandra and her daughter, Evelynn; and Michelle.

Irene was predeceased by her husband, Lyle; her parents; her grandson, Matthew; her half siblings, Bert Daisy, Violet, and Shirley; and by her Dennert step siblings, Covelle, Alwin, Elnora, Donna, Bonnie, and Stanley.

Irene's family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Broen Home and Woodland Lodge for the compassionate care and genuine concern provided to Irene over the years.

Irene enjoyed a full life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Heaven has gained another angel.
