Hermann Gutwin, 96, of Fergus Falls passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024.
He was born on June 21, 1928, in Fischerdorf, Ukraine to Paul and Anna (Zernikel) Gutwin. He grew up and attended school in Fischerdorf and later in Germany. He married Lieselotte (Mander) there. Together they immigrated to the United States and made their home in New Jersey until 1990 when they retired to Fergus Falls. They were blessed with two daughters, Edeltraud and Angela.
Hermann worked for many years at Seabrook Fams as a mechanic and later at Cumberland Lumber as a woodworker. He was a longstanding member of the Northville Lutheran Church where he was a deacon until his retirement.
Hermann enjoyed fishing and boating on the area’s numerous lakes. He also enjoyed woodworking and playing chess with his computerized games.
Preceding him in death were his parents, beloved wife, Lottie; brother, Paul and sister, Lily.
Left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Edeltraud Loatman of Bridgeton, NJ and Angela (John) Koeppe of Buffalo, MN; six grandchildren, Timothy (Kylee) Loatman, Nikki (Joe) Harvey, Damien (Tina) Loatman, Destini (AJ) Twining, JoHanna Koeppe, Nastassia (Joe) Marnich as well as 16 great-grandchildren, Jayden Berg, Kira and Lexington Loatman, Jaxson, Elisabeth and Owen Harvey, Lilyana Loatman, Ian and Carter Halvorson, Meadow, Serenity, Rowan and Kai Schnepf, Harper Twining, Juniper and Maple Marnich and sister-in-law, Hannelore Gutwin of Germany. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews in Germany.
A private service will be held at a later date.
