Harriet Thom

Harriet J. Thom, 85, of Fergus Falls, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. She was born September 26, 1921, the daughter of Leslie and Anna (Olson) Eckert in Villard, Minnesota, where she grew up. On February 14, 1938, she married Henry Thom in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. They lived in rural Erhard their entire life. They were the parents of four children. She worked at Park Region Bakery and Medallion Kitchens. They lived on the farm, where Harriet loved the animals, especially the cows and her chickens. She will long be remembered for her famous fried chicken She was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and in later years Tingvold Lutheran Church. Harriet found great joy in her family and a deep satisfaction in being surrounded by her children and their families. Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry; her parents; two sisters: Opal Abbott and Iva Randall, and her son-in-law, Elmer Boese. Survivors include her four children: Helen (Duane) Haugen of Fergus Falls, Arlene Boese of Sauk Rapids, William (Verona) Thom of Underwood, and Henrietta (Jerome) Klinnert, of Underwood; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Words cannot express our family's appreciation for the kindness given by the Pioneer Home staff and Hospice to make life much more comfortable for mom. Special thanks also to Reverend Scott Mikkelson and Chaplain Harry Olson for all their care and concern. Visitation:     6-8 p.m. Sunday with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
