Geneva Busko

May 29, 1931 — June 24, 2025

Geneva Jean Busko, 94, of Fergus Falls, passed away June 24, 2025 at Broen Home in Fergus Falls.

Geneva was born May 29, 1931 in Fergus Falls, to Frank and Theressa (Knudson) Williams. She was the middle child of three and the only girl. Until the age of nine she went to school at District 96 country school. Then she attended school at Adams and McKinley schools. In 1941 she moved to Sheridan Park, WA and attended high school. She moved back to Fergus Falls to work as a nanny and department store clerk.

Geneva met the love of her life, Harold Busko, at a dance in Foxhome, MN. They were married on January 7, 1950 in Fergus Falls, MN. They had six children and farmed for 36 years. Upon retirement in 1986 from the farm, they moved to Battle Lake, MN on Silver Lake to a lake home where they could entertain the grandchildren and children in their retirement years.

Geneva was an avid vegetable and flower gardener. Her yard was a joy to walk through because of the beautiful flowers. Her vegetable garden provided many wonderful meals. She taught herself to cook and sew. Geneva was always serving people with wonderfully cooked meals, especially at holiday times with traditional holiday dishes. While on the farm, she enjoyed Homemakers Club in Aastad Township, making crafts. She also enjoyed ceramics with friends, playing cards, and going out with friends and dancing the night away. She sewed beautiful quilts and was the head of the Our Lady of the Lake quilting group after moving to Battle Lake.

She cherished her faith and devoted countless hours on committees and various organizations in the Catholic churches. She volunteered her time to Christian Women's Organization and time with hospice at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Geneva was a dedicated wife, mother, and to serving others in her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold Busko; parents, Frank & Theresa Williams; brother, Earlean Williams; niece, Cheryl Williams; son-in-law, Logan Silha; and daughter-in-law, Denise Busko.

Survivors are her children, Teresa (David) Urlacher, Jeffrey Busko, Diana Silha, Harold (Julie) Busko, Jr., Jane Busko, and Joanne (Jeff) Poehls; brother, Cyril (Jean) Williams; niece, Cynthia; nephew, Chris; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
