Eugene Field

Eugene Jay Field, 84, of Frazee, formerly Fergus Falls, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at his residence, surrounded by family and friends following a gallant battle with cancer.

Born on August, 3, 1942 in Fergus Falls, MN to Vivian Arthur and Fern Francis (Lambert) Field, Eugene grew up alongside siblings Arlene, Richard, David and Marlene.

Eugene attended Fergus Falls High School through his Junior year, went on to serve in the National Guard and completed his GED during that time. Over the years he made a livelihood as a Bricklayer, Tile and Flooring Installer, a Police Officer for the city of Fergus Falls, Partner in SkyVision Satellite Company, and before retirement, returned to his talents in Tile Installation with beloved son, Brian as Gene Field and Son.

On December 1, 1962, he was united in marriage to Linda Kay Connell at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls MN. Together they built a home filled with affection and commitment over 63 years of marriage. As a father, he was supportive, patient, and encouraging. He took immense pride in his children: Brian, Tracy and Ruth.

Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and being with family and friends. He liked gadgets, was inquisitive, and good at figuring things out. He happily gave countless hours of his time to those he knew needing help with home projects and motor repairs.

His dedication and devotion to God resulted in a lifetime of sincere concern and compassion for those he crossed paths with. His heart's desire was that everyone know "Jesus loves you".

Eugene is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Ruth (Jon) Thurston, Tracy (Philip) Erb; his grandchildren, Christine (Doug) Krasley, Michael (Jessica) Erb, great-grandchildren, Gilead, Aubrielle, Eli and Dawson Krasley, Lucy, James, Silas, Henry, Isaac and Evelyn Erb; sister, Marlene Thompson; sister-in-law, Beverly Field; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Field; parents, Vivian and Fern Field; sister, Arlene Ledbetter; brothers, Richard Field and David Field; brother-in-laws, Robert Ledbetter and Doug Thompson; nephew, Dean Zent, and great-neice Jennifer Rovang.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2026 at Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes, MN, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
