Ethelynn Snyder, age 77, of Ottertail, MN passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
Ethelynn was born June 29, 1948 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Walter and Ethel Holweger. She was raised on a farm along with her brother Eugene. Ethelynn married Wayne Snyder on April 21, 1967, at the Arvilla Presbyterian Church. They lived near Emerado, ND while their three children Paul, Brent and Gina were born. Then they moved to Wahpeton, ND for a few years before settling in Campbell, MN for many years. In 1990 they moved to her mom and dad's farm near Arvilla, ND to help care for her dad and later her mom. They lived there until they retired.
Ethelynn went to cosmetology school and worked as a beautician for a few years, but her lifelong dream was to be a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She taught her children many things including how to care for animals and she always wanted to be a veterinarian. First raising poultry and then raising dogs for many years both in Campbell and later in Arvilla.
In retirement, Wayne built a new house on Donalds Lake in Ottertail, MN. They treasured their time together there on the lake and made many wonderful friends. She loved to ice fish and she took great pride in her flower gardens and strawberry patch.
Surviving members of her family include her husband of 58 years, Wayne Snyder, Ottertail, MN; children: Rev. Dr. Paul Snyder, Ashby, MN; Brent Snyder, Ottertail, MN; Gina (Kris) McNab, Stanley, ND; grandchildren: Trisha (Luke) Braaten, Niagara, ND; Cody (April) Michael, Valley City, ND; Nick (Anna) Osuna Michael, Grand Forks, ND; Destinee Snyder, Detroit Lakes, MN; great grandchildren: Rilee Bratten, Ava Michael, Levi Michael; and beloved service dog Lola.
