Eileen Huntley

Eileen Louise Huntley, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at HIA Heather's House, surrounded by the love of her family.

Eileen was born on September 25, 1951, in Worthington, Minnesota, to Joseph and Florence (Fallon) Follen. She attended grade school and high school in Brewster, Minnesota, and later attended Minnesota State University in Mankato, where she earned a degree in textiles.

On October 4, 1975, Eileen married Virgil Schmit in Brewster, Minnesota. Together they raised three children, Carrie, Brian, and Kathy. In 1984, the family moved north to Fergus Falls, and a few years later they made their forever home on Stalker Lake, where Eileen and Virgil created many treasured memories with their family until his passing on June 19, 2013.

On September 2, 2017, Eileen was united in marriage to Stephen Huntley at the beautiful Phelps Mill in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. Eileen and Stephen shared a special love and companionship. Together, they took great pride in watching their flower gardens grow and bloom. Their gardens reflected the patience, creativity, and love they shared.

Eileen had a remarkable talent for sewing and spent countless hours creating beautiful things for the people she loved. She spent many years doing alterations for people throughout the community. There seemed to be nothing Eileen couldn't sew or fix. Her creativity, patience, and willingness to help others made her talent a gift to so many.

Above all, Eileen cherished her family. She loved spending time with them and treasured every opportunity to be together. Her grandchildren could always count on Grandma making a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies whenever they came to visit-a simple tradition that became a treasured memory and a taste of the love she gave so freely.

As Eileen faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease, Stephen remained devoted to her, providing loving care and patience throughout her journey. His devotion was a beautiful expression of the love they shared.

Eileen will be remembered for her loving heart, her incredible talents, her generosity, and the countless ways she cared for the people around her. Her family and friends will carry her memory in the things she made, the traditions she created, and the love she shared with them throughout her life.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Florence Follen; father, Joseph Follen; infant brother Follen; husband, Virgil Schmit, and brother, Jack Follen.

Eileen is survived by her husband, Stephen Huntley of Fergus Falls; children, Carrie (Trent) Harthun of Fergus Falls, Brian (Emily) Schmit of West Fargo, Kathy (Karlo) Etten of Foxhome, and Ryan (Ali) Huntley of Ashby; grandchildren, Brianna Harthun of Fargo, Tristan Harthun of Fargo, John Etten of Foxhome, Grant Etten of Williston, Mazie Etten of Foxhome, Charlie, Cody, and Zoey Huntley of Ashby; siblings, Pat Spencer of Windom, Tom (Mary) Follen of Brewster, Edie Jurgens of Windom, Richard (Arlene) Follen of Port St. Lucie, FL, Keith (Tracy) Follen of Tucson, AZ, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls, with visitation for one and a half hours prior to the service.

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
