Doris Jorgenson, 94, of Rothsay, died Monday, April 28, 2025 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Doris Avis Weik was born at home on December 29, 1930 to Wilhelm and Alma (Halbakken) Weik in Trondhjem Township. She was the sixth of nine children.
She worked as a home health aide, a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn, a cook at the school, in laundry care, and janitorial with her husband at the church for 21 years and at the Community Center.
On June 4, 1949 she married Edward Jorgenson at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. They had a double wedding with her twin sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Elroy Jorgenson. Doris and Ed farmed near Carlisle before moving to Rothsay, where they spent their lives together. She spent her last year at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Besides raising five children, she had a huge garden, and baked bread at least twice a week. She also loved playing cards. She was very active in the church, Ladies Aide Quilting Circle. Doris especially LOVED dancing.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Wilhelm and Alma Weik; her husband, Edward Jorgenson; siblings, Margaret (Richard) Thomas, George (Effie) Weik, Marvin (Arlene) Weik, Ardis (Lloyd) Hovland, Dorothy (Elroy) Jorgenson, Marcella (Earl) Johnson, and Walter Weik; sons, Steve Jorgenson and Roger Jorgenson; daughter-in-law, Debra (Maack) Jorgenson; grandson, Shane Herk, and numerous other relatives.
Doris is survived by her children, Lee, Sandy, and Paul (Lori) Jorgenson; daughter-in-law, Debra Lynn Jorgenson; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Dennis) VanWechel; sister-in-law, Audrey Weik, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025 at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.
Clergy: Reverend Randy Whitehead
Interment: Hamar Cemetery, Rothsay, Minnesota
