Donald Moen

Donald Moen, 89, died Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Ashby Living Center.

Donald Clifford Moen was born January 13, 1937, to John and Clara (Hovland) Moen in Rothsay. He grew up in Trondhjem Township and was baptized and confirmed at North Friborg Church. He attended School District 89 and attended West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, graduating in 1955.

He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1960 and was stationed in Berlin as a radio operator to keep the borders open.

In December 1964 Don married Marie Johansen at Our Saviors Church in Dalton, MN. They celebrated 53 years together on December 19, 2017.

Don worked at the home farm, National T & A Packing Plant and Dairy Farmers of America, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed yard work and working in the woodworking shop. He was a member of the Ashby American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Clara Moen; wife, Marie; son, Trevor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Delia (Lyle) Johnson, Ilene (Lloyd) Lien, Irene (Elmer) Ronningen, Evelyn (Robert) Lamm, Avis (Wilfred "Bud") Zimmerman, Judith (Kenneth) Toso, Charlotte Moen, and Ardell Moen; brother-in-law, James Drechsel; nieces, Marsha Toso, Lynette Toso, and Sandra Honrud, and nephew, Craig Zimmerman.

Don is survived by his daughter-in-law, Melissa Moen (Leo Ohren) of Evansville; two grandsons, Steven Moen and Taylor Moen; great-grandchildren, Kinley Rose, Brighton Trevor and Harper Minnie; sister, Geraldine Drechsel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don't be sad for me be happy I'll be in the house of the Lord with Marie and Trevor forever.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026 at Our Savior's Ten Mile Lutheran Church in Dalton, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Interment: Our Saviors Cemetery, Dalton, MN
