Donald "Don" Allen Snyder

Donald "Don" Allen Snyder, 71, of Dent, died February 8th, 2026 in Perham Living.

Don was born November 17th, 1954, to Raymond and Vivian (Kohler) Snyder in Detroit Lakes. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Perham. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. He was a police officer and sheriff deputy for over 15 years serving Detroit Lakes, Becker County, and the Perham police departments.

On May 27th, 1978, Don married JoAnn Maack at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. On May 13th, 1990 Don and JoAnn were blessed with their only daughter Amanda Snyder.

Don lived a life of service to others. Even after leaving law enforcement, he was ever ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether it be helping at his daughter's elementary school building the biggest fort for students to helping a friend cut wood, Don jumped at the chance to help. Don was also an insanely talented inventor, carpenter, and jack of all trades. Between snowman kits, lantern bird feeders, shoehorn fishing lure, and so many other creations Don has left a trail of goodies for us all to enjoy life a little more.

Besides his wife and daughter, Don's true love was fishing. He has spent many hours floating on a boat, looking down a fishing hole, and casting a line from shore. Time spent with family and friends fishing were the best times of Don's life. That man knew not only how to find where the fish were biting, but could call the fish in if they weren't.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Raymond and Vivian Snyder; sister Beverly Raatz, and brother Tom Snyder.

Don is survived by his wife, JoAnn; child, Amanda Snyder, brothers, Dave Snyder, Larry (Lona) Snyder, Monte Snyder; sister Kathy Tallman. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Public Visitation with Memorial Service: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2026 at Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls, with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.

Interment: St John Cemetery, Elizabeth, MN in the Spring of 2026
