Dollie Tangen

Dollie Ann Olive Tangen, 96, a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home, Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Dollie was born September 8, 1929, to Fredrick and Frances (Neuman) Boll in Fergus Falls, MN.

On August 23, 1949, Dollie married Ellsworth C. (Ted) Tangen in Webster, SD.

Dollie was employed for several years at the Regional Treatment Center in Fergus Falls and Service Food Market. Dollie and Ted spent 25 years in the Twin Cities, first in St. Louis Park and then in Minnetonka. During that time. she was employed at Boos Dental Lab as a bookkeeper and estimator, followed by an office assistant at Gardner Hardware, both in Minneapolis. Prior to her retirement, she was a bookkeeper for an asbestos removal company.

Ted and Dollie were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church. Dollie enjoyed teaching Sunday school and other church activities.

When Dollie and Ted retired, they returned home to Fergus Falls and to the lake place they enjoyed for many years. Ted and Dollie enjoyed riding bike together. For several summers, they made a trip around Otter Tail Lake. Dollie loved to read and do puzzles. They enjoyed travels in their motorhomes exploring Florida, Arizona and California. Eventually they landed in south Texas, enjoying the winters there and the many friends they made along the way. They loved to have family and friends come and spend time at the cottage on East Lost Lake. One of Dollie's specialties was her pancakes (her grandmother's recipe) which was a breakfast tradition every summer at the lake.

Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth (Ted) Tangen; parents, Fred and Frances Boll; siblings, Winton, Donna, Dennis, Betty, Patty, Gracie and Fred Jr.

Dollie is survived by her children, Teri (Ron) Spangler of Fergus Falls and Bob (Isla) Tangen of Rogers; grandchildren, Tricia (Dan) Bergeson of St. Peter, Ron Jr (Lisa) Spangler of Fergus Falls, Ben (Liz) Tangen of St. Michael, Nick (Anna) Tangen of St. Michael and Joe (Amber) Tangen of Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Kristina, Jennifer, Jordan, Jacob, Owen, Riley, Lincon, Calvin, Conner, Lane and Abby and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service: 1:00 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Faith Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with a visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
