Darlene Sigurdson

Darlene Dee Hanson Sigurdson, 89, of Fergus Falls, died peacefully Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls surrounded by her family.

Darlene D. Perry was born July 12, 1936, to Dale and Evelyn (Ronning) Perry in Appleton, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Appleton and graduated as salutatorian from Appleton High School in 1954.

On June 25, 1955 Darlene married Clifford Hanson, he died in February of 1984. Darlene was united in marriage to Orvin Sigurdson on January 18, 1986. Orvin died in February of 2000.

In August of 1964 Darlene moved to Minneota. She began her banking career in 1967 at First State Bank in Minneota. She moved to Fergus Falls October 31, 1970 and in December of 1970 she transferred to Norwest Bank and retired December 31, 1993.

In 1955 Darlene joined the Lutheran Church in Minneota. She was a member of Bethlehem Church in Fergus Falls for many years. Through the years she was involved with various organizations such as, Business and Professional Women, Financial Women International, Hospice Board of Directors, Productive Alternative Directors, served on various City of Fergus Falls committees, Y's Folks, Fergus Falls Senior Citizen, Stephen Minister, I Can Cope Facilitator, Hospice Grief Group Facilitator and Lions Reading Program volunteer.

Darlene was the #1 fan and biggest supporter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. She loved being active; playing Mahjong, her swimming group (more so the breakfast that followed water fitness), book club, bible study, and entertaining her family and friends. Darlene liked to be in charge, right down to planning every detail of her funeral service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Evelyn Perry; husbands, Clifford Hanson and Orvin Sigurdson; son, Mark Hanson; sister, Gail Pautzke; son-in-law, Mark Ringquist; step-son-in-law, Jim Coy; great-grandson, Joshua Ballweg, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Perry.

Darlene is survived by her son, Thomas (Carrie) Hanson of Fergus Falls; daughter, Connie Ringquist of Fergus Falls; step-daughter, Vicki Coy of Columbia, MO; ten grandchildren, Danielle (Lonnie) Ballweg, Nicholas Hanson, Laurel Springer, Emmy (Michael) Shelby, Angela Hanson (friend, Curt), Rebecca Hanson (fiancé, Richard), DJ (Meghan) Ringquist, Jordan (Jasmine) Ringquist, Dane Ringquist, and Josh Coy; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Michael Perry and Jim Perry; brother-in-law, Ed (Becky) Pautzke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Clergy: Reverend Loren Mellum

Interment: Private family burial at a later date at Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Minneota, Minnesota
