Daniel Wayne Froslie was born on June 19, 1959 to Wayne and Betty Froslie. Dan passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND surrounded by his family. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rothsay.
Dan graduated from Rothsay High School in 1977. During high school he participated in football, basketball, track, band, choir and 4-H. Dan received an Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology from NDSCS in 1979. He worked for Roger Dillon Electric and Otter Tail Power Co. before farming full-time on the family farm in 1995. He raised beef cattle and small grains.
Dan married Renae Ouren on September 1, 1984. They had three children; Derek, Brian and Andrea. Dan loved his family and his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending the kids' sporting events, concerts and helping with 4-H projects. In later years he loved attending the grandchildren's events.
Dan's passion was farming. He worked hard every day and saw the results of his labor every fall at harvest. Dan and Renae received the RRVDA Valley Farmer and Homemaker Award in 2011. He served on the Wilkin Co. Extension Service Committee for several years. Dan served on various committees at New Life Lutheran Church and was an adult leader for the Rothsay 4-H Club numerous times.
Dan was always willing to lend a hand, whether he was asked or simply saw an opportunity to help. He helped Derek and Sara build their barn, worked alongside Brian and Allie on their kitchen renovation, and demo'd and put up sheetrock in Andrea and Jordan's basement. He also kept up maintenance on the family farms and lake houses; always ready to fix, build, or improve whatever needed it.
Dan enjoyed spending time at Lake Lida and doing some traveling. Dan and Renae were on a couple's bowling league at Northern Aire Lanes for 42 years. He played softball for many years. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his sons, cousins and good friend, Mike Rheault.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Keith Allen, father-in-law Richard Ouren, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dan is survived by his wife, Renae; sons Derek (Sara), Brian (Allie) of Rothsay and daughter Andrea (Jordan) Sanger of Pelican Rapids. Grandchildren Emma, Addisyn, and Greyson Froslie, Celia Sanger and two more grandchildren expected soon by both Brian and Allie, as well as Andrea and Jordan. Sister Wendy (Dan) Davidson, brothers David (Dawn) and Dean (Erin) Froslie, mother-in-law Beverly Ouren, brothers-in-law Paul (Steph) Ouren, Todd (Betty) Ouren, Nathan Ouren and Kris McCann, as well as uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
The family extends sincere appreciation to Sanford Health, Sanford Rehab, Bethany Homes, PAM Rehab, Vivie, Home Instead, family and friends during the past several months.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026 at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.
