Dale Kugler

Dale Kugler, 76, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, August 6, 2026 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

Dale Allen Kugler was born July 22, 1950, in Fergus Falls, the middle child of seven, to Kenneth and Frances (Gibbard) Kugler. During his younger years he attended country school and later graduated from Underwood High School in 1968, where he participated in wrestling and football.

He married Mary Hanstad on September 5, 1969. They had one son, Chad.

Dale was a very hard worker. He was a self-employed construction worker most of his life and took great pride in his work. He was a jack of many trades, some of which were: block layer, cement, stone work, shingling, siding, building decks, remodeling and brick and tile work. He also bartended at Marie's Tavern in Underwood for 25 years later in life.

Dale was an avid reader and loved watching westerns. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spearing, cutting wood, trapping leeches, feeding the birds and anything outdoors. He also enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards and couldn't resist a good pull-tab jar. In his younger years he played on many different baseball and softball leagues.

Dale had a huge heart and was loved by everyone everywhere he went, whether it was the gas station, the local bars, bank, or at the clinic with the doctors and nurses, every place he went he made friends. He was a generous man and there wasn't a fundraiser he could say no to. He will be remembered for dancing, delivering roses on Valentine's Day and bringing monarch caterpillars in a jar to children. He was loved by kids of all ages and always had a way to make them smile. He was Uncle Dale or Papa Dale to many.

Dale was very proud of his family, especially his son and even more his grandchildren whom he enjoyed spending lots of time with. He would take them to the "Bar for Kids" when they were little, because he just couldn't resist showing them off.

He had a strong faith with Jesus and always said his prayers. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Friberg Township.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Frances Kugler; brother, Richard and sister-in-law, Sheree; brother, Daryl and sister-in-law, Linda; brother, James; and sister-in-law, Bernie Kugler.

Dale is survived by his son, Chad (Laura) Kugler of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Taylor (Blair) Andersen of Moorhead and Chase Kugler of Fergus Falls; sister, Verona (Steve) Bell; brothers, Doug (Terry) Kugler and Wayne Kugler; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Scott and Jane Neubauer.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Cancer Center in Fergus Falls for their wonderful care and friendship to Dale throughout the past year.

Celebration of Life: 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Marie's Tavern in Underwood, MN.
