Carrol Peasley, 84, of Erhard, died Monday, October 9, 2023 at his residence.
Carrol Dean Peasley was born December 24, 1938 to William 'Bill' Peasley and Nettie (Helgeson) Peasley on the family farm east of Erhard, MN. Being born on Christmas Eve, he was his moms Christmas Carol-and that is how he got his name.
Carrol attended school up to the 8th grade in Edwards, MN-now known as 'Ye Olde School House.' After his schooling, he stayed at the homestead working on the farm. At 17 he took off for Oregon with several of his cousins, and worked at various mills-even owning a shake mill later on.
On March 12, 1960 Carrol met and married Patricia (Burch) Peasley, and together they had four children Kathy, William 'Lacey', Lisa, and Michelle 'Charlie'. They later divorced in 2000.
Carrol was always a hard worker, and instilled his strong work ethic in his children. Carrol was a free spirit, and loved moving around to different towns in Oregon and Minnesota. In 1979 he moved his family to Wyoming, where he worked as a siding applicator-along with his son Lacey, and daughter Lisa. They traveled all across the country, which went along with his gypsy spirit.
Carrol loved logging, and being out in the woods cutting firewood with his son, and tapping trees with his granddaughter. Carrol took great pride in being a father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He passed on a wealth of knowledge to all of us, and we are eternally grateful.
Another one of Carrol's passions was hunting. No matter what time of year it was, he provided wild game for his family-and told many stories to pass on to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and anyone else who would listen. He was also a master gardener, and loved to can and preserve the fruits of his labor.
Carrol is survived by his children, Kathy (Paul) Foster of Fergus Falls, MN, Wm Lacey Peasley of Erhard, MN, Lisa (Wayne) Helland of Fergus Falls, MN and Michelle Peasley of Fergus Falls, MN; one brother, Darrell (Linda) Peasley of Burns, OR and sister in-law Idella Peasley, also of Burns, OR; twenty-one grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nettie Peasley; brothers Clarence, Charlie (Eileen), and Murrel; sisters Violet (Lloyd) Emery, Betty (John) Bolstad, Adeline (Harvey) Mostue, and several nieces and nephews.
Carrol will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He had a special way of connecting with people, and developed strong bonds with all his family and friends.
