Carlton Nelson

Carlton William "Bill" Nelson, 62, formerly of Fergus Falls, passed away at his home in Casper, Wyoming, on March 26, 2007. He was born November 11, 1944, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Carlton "Todd" and Elnora (Stigen) Nelson. He graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1961. Bill attended St. Cloud State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. When he returned from the service he attended Fergus Falls Community College and Moorhead State University. Bill married Bonnie Shonblom in 1969. He worked for Benson Optical in Fergus Falls and also in Ottumwa and Cedar Rapids Iowa. He married Cathi Ream, and later moved to Casper, Wyoming, where he worked for United Building Center until his retirement in 2007. Preceding him in death was his father. Survivors include his son, Alex of Ottumwa, Iowa; his mother, Elnora of Barnesville, Minnesota; two sisters: Cheryl (Ken) Klipfel of Hudson, Wisconsin, and Carol (Curt) Schindler of Barnesville; and four brothers: Lee (Connie) Nelson of Cross Lake, Minnesota, Charles Nelson and Chris Nelson, both of Barnesville, and Curt Nelson of Erhard. Bill is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his many friends. Visitation:     Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home, and resumes one hour prior to the services at the chapel Service:     2 p.m. Thursday April 5 at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel Clergy:          Rev.
