Bruce Wahl

Bruce Wahl, age 76, passed away at his residence on July 10, 2025, surrounded by his family and under the care of Vivie Hospice.

Bruce was born on November 24, 1948 to Marlo and Helen (Wentzel) Wahl in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1967, briefly attended the community college and then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from August 1969 to December 1971. He serves as a medical corpsman in San Diego, CA and Portsmouth, VA. After his discharge he was employed at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center for 37 ½ years until his retirement. He worked with the developmentally disabled as a behavioral analyst, direct care staff and finally as Program Lead at Gustavus House.

Bruce married his loving wife Deb (Schmitt) on June 27, 1981. They were blessed with on daughter, Stephanie (Richard) Wright, and two sons, Andy (Cassie) and Mike (Jamie). Bruce especially loved being a grandpa to Jackson Wright, Tristan, Samson, Breezy and Judah Wahl and June and Harold Wahl. He loved buying them special items and giving them treats. He was also a dog father, most recently to DeDe and Daisy.

Bruce enjoyed bowling and golf in his younger years. He was always up for a game of cribbage and other card games with his family. Bruce was a diehard Vikings fam and as each new season began, he always held out hope that they would finally win the Super Bowl.

In addition to his wife, his children, their spouses and grandchildren Bruce is survived by his siblings, Daryl (Gayle) Wahl, David (Jan) Wahl, Joanne (Bob) Stine and Pam (David) Sander; plus, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceasing him were his parents, Marlo and Helen; his brother and sister-in-law, Dale (Barb) Wahl; their son, Kelly; father and mother-in-law, Ken and Dolores Schmitt.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Clergy: Father Alan Wielinski

Interment: St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery, Pierz, MN at a later date
