Beverly Somers

December 2, 1939 — February 9, 2026

Beverly (Bev) Ann Somers (aka Granny) passed away February 9, 2026, at home after a heartbreaking battle with dementia. She was born at home in Battle Lake, Minnesota, to Mamie Elnora (Schmidt) Somers and Cecil Francis Somers. She graduated from Battle Lake High School.

On October 30, 1960, Bev was united in marriage to Clement (Clem) Mathew Hendrickson in Battle Lake, Minnesota. They resided in California where their first two children were born. In July 1968, they moved to Minnesota to be closer to family and added two more children to their family. Throughout her life, she had many occupations, but most will know her from her 30 plus years at Mills Fleet Farm in Fergus Falls until she retired in 2018. She also worked at Skogen's where she rented out VCR tapes. She did bookkeeping and payroll when she worked for her uncle at S&S Trucking. She worked at Medallion Kitchens and worked in the Cantina and the kitchen at the State Hospital. She was also a matron and bailiff for the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.

Bev served as a Bethel Guardian for Job's Daughters and held memberships in both the Order of the Eastern Star and the Otter Tail County Historical Society. She had a deep passion for ancestry, meticulously crafting family scrapbooks to preserve her heritage. A gifted creator, Bev was a talented knitter, crocheter, painter, and seamstress and delighted in carving ornaments for her loved ones. She found peace in nature by feeding birds and raising, tagging, and releasing Monarch butterflies. She enjoyed riding her horses and even joined the bicentennial wagon train in 1976. In her later years, she found great joy in the quiet challenge of her puzzles. Family meant everything to Granny, and her happiest moments were spent gathering everyone at 'The Creek' (pronounced crick). Whether they were canoeing, tubing, kayaking, riding horses, or just relaxing and putzing around, she loved having her crew together.

Bev is survived by her children Joan Milbeck of Fergus Falls; Danielle (Brian) Tjaden of Fergus Falls; Steve Hendrickson of Fergus Falls; and Michelle Hendrickson (Derek Jampsa) of Elizabeth, Minnesota; grandchildren Heather Milbeck (Luke Norgren) of Erhard, Minnesota; Samantha (Houston) Pierce of Barnesville, Minnesota; Derek Grahn (Amber Parker) of Breckenridge, Minnesota; Josh Grahn of Watertown, South Dakota; Cody Hendrickson of Fergus Falls; Kali Hendrickson (Jordan Nehk) of Erhard; Brady (Trista) Tostenson of Fergus Falls; and Brett (Leila) Tostenson of Elizabeth; great-grandchildren Cadynce (Eric Field), Jullian, and Reid Norgren; Ellory and Emerson Pierce; Hudson Hagberg; Alayah, Maya, and Dax Tostenson; and Jayden and Lincoln Tostenson; many nieces and nephews, and many first cousins, first cousins once removed, second cousins, etc.

Preceding her in death were her ex-husband/life partner Clem Hendrickson; her best four-legged friend Maisy; her parents; grandson Justin Swenson-Hendrickson; sister Vernice Somers; sister Loane Johnson; brother Vernel (Bud) Somers; sister Selyvia Johnson; brother Elden Somers; brother Arlin Somers; brother-in-law Lyman Johnson; brother-in-law Robert S. Johnson; sister-in-law Vera Somers; father-in-law Mathew Hendrickson; mother-in-law Jayne Hendrickson; and nephew Bobby Johnson.
