Betty Mae Funkhouser, 84, Evansville formerly Dalton, died Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Evansville Care Center.
Betty was born on December 12, 1938, in Tumuli Township, rural Dalton, to Alvin and Myrtle (Johnson) Foshaug. She attended District 7 Grade School in Tumuli Township and graduated in 1957 from Fergus Falls High School.
On October 25, 1958, Betty married Donald Funkhouser at Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church rural Dalton.
She was employed at Runnigan’s Café in Fergus Falls, Bostwicks, Dalton Café and with Service Food and The Market for over fifty years, retiring in 2020.
Betty was a member of Our Saviors Ten Mile Lake Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing Bingo, knitting, making lefse and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved playing with her great-grandchildren, Piper and Avery.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Otto Olson; brothers, Richard Foshaug and Stanley Foshaug; niece, Nancy Bordson; brother-in-law, Glen Herman; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Eileen and Burt Younger and Curt and Gloria Funkhouser; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Blanche and Frank Funkhouser.
Betty is survived by her children, Jill (Peter) Swendsrud of Staples and Jason (Callie) Funkhouser of Ashby; grandchildren, Logan (Kaylee) Swendsrud of Little Falls, Jacob Swendsrud (Haley Christoffersen) of Pillager, Isaac Swendsrud (Kylie Bendson) of Park Rapids, Bailey (Danny) Yackley of Battle Lake, Benjamin (Natalie) Funkhouser of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Piper Yackley and Avery McGary; sister-in-law, Ardyce Foshaug of Evansville, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, June and John Kvam, Carol and Wayne Brendefur and Neal and Barb Funkhouser all of Fergus Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2023 at Our Saviors Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church, Dalton, MN, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment: Ten Mile Lake Cemetery, Dalton, MN
