Betty Lou Froslie

March 8, 1932 — April 10, 2026

Betty Lou (Ouse) Froslie, 94, died on April 10, 2026, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

She was born on March 8, 1932, to Melvin and Celia (Morris) Ouse on the family farm west of Rothsay. The middle of five children, she was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church. Betty attended country school for her elementary grades and high school in Rothsay, graduating in 1950.

Immediately following graduation, Betty moved to Minneapolis to attend the St. Barnabas School of Nursing. She graduated in 1953 and began her 40-plus-year nursing career at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo. Betty worked at Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids from 1956 to 1978 before moving to Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, where she remained until her retirement in 1997. Betty viewed nursing as a calling and faithfully served her patients and coworkers with kindness and dedication.

Betty married her high school classmate, Wayne Froslie, on April 27, 1956, at Hamar Lutheran Church. Together they built a life rooted in family, faith and hard work. Wayne took over the family farm northwest of Rothsay while Betty balanced family life, her nursing career and farm responsibilities.

They were blessed with four children: Wendy, Daniel, David and Dean. The family were active members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She rarely missed a game, concert, program or other activity, always supporting her children with love and encouragement.

Wayne passed away in 1999 and Betty remained on the farm until 2007 when she moved to Moorhead. She lived at RiverPointe of Moorhead for over a decade before moving to the Eventide on Eighth Care Center. In 2023, Betty moved to PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

Betty's service to others continued in retirement. She volunteered for hospice and at the Roger Maris Cancer Center, offering comfort and care to those in need. After moving to Moorhead, she joined St. John Lutheran Church in Fargo.

Wayne and Betty took many trips around the country, including a memorable vacation to Alaska. Betty enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and relaxing at the family's cabin on Lake Lida. She cherished every moment spent with her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Keith Allen; her parents; and brothers Clifford and Lloyd.

Betty is survived by her children: Wendy (Dan) Davidson, Daniel (Renae), David (Dawn), and Dean (Erin). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Derek (Sara) Froslie, Samuel Walker, Brian (Allie) Froslie, Kate (Bi) Yoo, Andrea (Jordan) Sanger, Ali Froslie, Evan Froslie, Claire Froslie, and Elise Froslie; and great-grandchildren: Emma, Addisyn, and Greyson Froslie; Elliot and Julian Yoo; and Celia Sanger. She is further survived by her brother, Ralph (Roberta) Ouse, and sister, Margie Halbakken.

The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of PioneerCare and HIA Hospice for their compassionate care.
